Where is it?

In the central Goldfields region, north west of Melbourne, on the main road between Ballarat and Bendigo.

What is it like?

Daylesford has presented itself as a spa town come New Age resort in recent years. It certainly has a mixed population of residents and visitors. There is a significant gay community, none more so than in mid March for the Chill Out festival.

What to see and do.

Weekenders up from Melbourne take the waters at Hepburn Springs resort, a very upmarket place to go for a bath. There are all kinds of pools to plunge in, apart from various 'spa' type health treatments. The Convent Gallery an unexpectedly large, high quality collection housed in, (you've guessed it, you clever people) a converted convent, is worth a look.
