The first collections of the Bordeaux Natural History Museum are over two hundred years old. Indeed, on December 19th 1791, Francois de Paule Latapie (one of Montesquieu's disciples) and teacher at the Ecole Centrale exchanged his personal collection, his natural history exhibition room and his herbarium with the city, in return for a life annuity .
