Australian Capital Territory

The ACT was the land set aside by the government of the newly independent Commonwealth of Australia in 1909. The land was essentially 'purchased' to provide a home for a new capital city of Canberra. Small in size and contained within the borders of New South Wales, ACT is essentially Canberra. However outside of the city and its suburbs are some pleasant towns and countryside not to mention the scenic delights of the Namadgi National Park.
